Pant (Rajgir) Wildlife Sanctuary

Rajgir wildlife sanctuary is one of the most viewable and interesting point of Bihar districts. This sanctuary has various illustrations and auspicious existence of hammocks of Buddha and Jain era. This sanctuary is located at 102 kilometers from Patna and spread in 36 sqkm area. In this sanctuary some of the historic hills are erected and enriched with dense tropical forestry. Another nearest wildlife sanctuary is Koderma Wildlife sanctuary which located at 93 kilometers distance from here.
History

During 1971, this area was declared as wildlife sanctuary. Rajgir was the main habitat of Tigers but owing to increasing human interference, the species migrated to Sundarban area of West Bengal and a few Tigers remained here. The preset population of tigers in this sanctuary is assessed 12 only. At present Elephants, Neelgai, Barking Deers and Sloth bears are naturally habited in this sanctuary. This sanctuary is also well known for its scenic beauty and adventurous treks.
