Chandratal Wildlife Sanctuary
One of the most classically beautiful of all Himalayan lakes in the Chandratal (4270 m) in Lahul’s upper Chandra valley. Drive to the lake itself is adventurous and breathtaking. The lake is like a brilliant turquoise gem in the bare surroundings! Scenery changes every hour, Crystal Clear Lake water in the morning take an emerald green to a turquoise blue hue as the day wears away. Chandratal, aptly called the lake of the moon, is surrounded by the high peaks of the Chandrabhaga and the Mulkila.
The area is also a wildlife reserve. One often comes across birds like Brahmini Duck and Bar headed Geese. Please take permission from forest Department for a visit
