Wildlife Photography: Why buy those expensive Cameras & Lenses when you can rent them?

One of the most expensive part of the wildlife photography is the photography itself 🙂 rather the equipments used for it. If you have visited any wildlife sanctuaries, you will feel so awkward if you are carrying those point and shoot cameras when others are carrying those larger than life cameras and lens. These cameras (mostly Canon or Nikon and some rare guys like me having Sony Alpha which uses mirrorless technology). These Camera especially lenses are very expensive and some of them running into 3 to 4 and some close to 10 lakhs a piece (I recently bought a Tamron 150mm-600mm lens which costed me a Lakh; I have 3 more such lenses of various configurations)
Many a times I feel it is not worth to buy them considering most do Wildlife trips 3 or 4 times a year and also many a times many are not sure what lens (focal length) is the right one. Ideally better to experiment and then buy. Also people need different focal length lens depending on whether they need to shoot animals or birds – very tough to buy all combinations of such lenses. Again cameras also keep varying and keep improving a lot and there are many combinations and costs anywhere from few thousands to few lakhs easily. So my question was why buy if we can rent and started doing research and surprisingly found many companies who are renting these amazing equipments but there was no single place where I could search all camera/lens and find the one I want and rent by the push of a button.
Since Camera and Lens are so critical part of the whole Wildlife experience, we at WildTrails of India, decided to list all such camera & lens rentals wherein one can search the exact camera type, or lens he or she needs for the dates she needs and in the city she wants including the ability to select the rental that can deliver to your office or home at the time specified.
