How to pick the Right Kanha Safari Gate?
This article explains how to pick the right Kanha safari gate considering the fact that there are a Three safari gates and Max Four Zones and all gates are separated by around 60 kms.
Pick the Right Kanha Safari Gate
There are three gates and four zones. When you actually book a safari, you need to book based on the Zone but when you need to go there to take the safari and when you need to book the accommodation, you need to w.r.t the safari gate. So how we do this?
Here are some of the metrics we use at WildTrails India to help customers choose the right Kanha safari gate based on various factors such as availability of Gypsies, TSI* (Tiger Sighting index) for the given gate, for last 7 days, last 14 days and last 28 days and also tiger movement details for last 2 to 3 days (all are shown in the app WildTrails India App). Ideally it is always good to book a safari after seeing the TSI. It is better to book a gate based on TSI and preferably as late as possible [but not late enough to lose the tickets and see a ‘all-tickets sold out’ board]. Since safari needs to be booked way ahead of time, another way of tackling this issue (Slightly expensive) is to book all 3 gates in advance and pick the gate that has the maximum tiger sighting close to the day of your safari [We offer multi-gate economical Safari package – please check with us]. Gates verus Zones Mapping
Rule of Thumb is if you have booked zone Kanha or Kisli, you go to Khatia Gate, if you have booked Mukki Zone, you go to Mukki Gate and if you have booked Sarhi Zone, you go to Sarhi Gate. So far so good. This is true if you have booked Full Vehicle Permit. But if you have booked Single Seat Permit, you need to read the voucher very carefully and you need to go the gate that is mentioned on the Voucher, don’t follow what we told earlier.
[Technically Speaking, you can go to Khatia gate to go to any zone and you can go to Mukki gate to go to any zone other than Kanha & Sarhi Zone and you have to go to Sarhi gate if yo have to go to Sarhi Zone but the path to all becomes painful and confusing but it is better to stick to the Rule of Thumb unless you are on a single seat permit and in that case just stick to the gate mentioned on the voucher]
