🐅 Safari Bookings Made Easy
Safari permits for Corbett zones are managed through Ramnagar. You can:
- Book directly online
- Visit the Forest Booking Office
- Get local help via your hotel or tour operator
Most safari jeeps, guides, and naturalists are based in Ramnagar, making it the most efficient place to organize your safari.
If you’re planning a visit to Jim Corbett, you can choose to stay at resorts or hotels in Ramnagar or Dhikuli town, which are about 9–10 km apart. But if you truly want to soak in the wild charm of the forest, your best bet is to book a safari in the Dhikala Zone and stay at one of the forest department’s guest houses inside the reserve.
These include Dhikala Guest House, Khinanauli Guest House, Sarapduli Guest House, Gairal Guest House, and Sultan Guest House. Bookings for these forest lodges are made through government portals and typically fill up almost a year in advance. From our experience, it’s quite a challenge to get confirmed dates — but if you’re flexible, we’d be happy to assist.
Do note, guests can stay for a maximum of 3 nights inside the forest. And trust us — staying deep inside Corbett, waking up to jungle sounds, and setting out on safaris is an adventure of its own.
🐅 Dhikala Zone – The Heart of Jim Corbett
🌳 Overview
Dhikala is the largest and most famous safari zone in Jim Corbett National Park. Located deep within the core area of the forest, Dhikala offers a truly wild and immersive safari experience that’s unmatched by any other zone in the park.
It’s named after the Dhikala chaur — a vast grassland that attracts large herds of elephants, deer, wild boars, and of course, the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. The terrain here is a mix of dense sal forests, open meadows, and riverbeds, offering incredible biodiversity and landscape variety.
🛏️ Unique Accommodation Inside the Zone
One of the highlights of visiting Dhikala is the chance to stay inside the forest itself at the Dhikala Forest Rest House (FRH). It’s operated by the Forest Department and gives you early access to safaris and birdwatching — even before other visitors arrive from outside.
- Accommodation is basic but comfortable
- No luxury frills — it’s all about the raw jungle vibe
- Meals are served in a canteen
- Electricity is limited, but the experience is pure adventure
🔐 Note: Only those staying inside Dhikala are allowed to do canter safaris in this zone.
💬 Why Visit Dhikala?
If you want to:
- Witness the raw, untouched wilderness
