About Sariska National Park

Sariska National Park has a not-so-old yet rigid history. It all began when the first tiger was successfully airlifted in the year 2004 from yet another gem in the state, Ranthambore National Park. The forest reserve is now with over 20 tigers at present as per the expert tiger trackers. The forest was declared a wildlife reserve in 1955, further, being part of the Tiger Reserve project that was initiated in 1978.

 

Flora and Fauna Of Sariska National Park

Over 300 species of vegetation are seen here at Sariska National Park. This captivating surrounding of nature is more relaxing and delightful to the mind. Nearly 90% of the forest is covered with Dhok trees. Salar, Kadaya, Dhak, Gol, Ber, Khair, Bargad, Arjun, Gugal and Bamboo.

The 20 tigers here are spread across the 4 zones which is a treat to spot one among all the big cats. Leopard, jungle cat, striped hyena, golden jackal, caracal, chital, sambar deer, nilgai, wild boar, Indian civet, mongoose, honey badger, Rhesus macaque, Northern plains gray langur, and hare are other common sightings here.

The forest reserve is bliss for bird watchers. Some of the rarest flocks like grey partridge, white-throated kingfisher, Indian peafowl, bush quail, sandgrouse, treepie, golden-backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle, and the Indian eagle-owl.

Canter safari

Canter safari option is an economical option to explore Sariska National Park. Recommended that your group size is big enough. A single canter can accommodate up to 20 tourists.

 

Jeep safari

A 3-hour ride through the woods in an open-air gypsy is the best choice to find the maximum sightings in Sariska National Park. 2 safari drives are scheduled per day. The morning safari is scheduled at 6 AM and the evening drive is scheduled at 3 PM.

There are 2 gates to enter Sariska National Park

Sariska gate – Sariska gate is the most popular gate since it is the entry point to zone 1, zone 2, and Zone 3. The tiger sightings are maximum and hence are the most preferred choice.

Tehla gate – Tehla gate is around 80 km from Sariska Alvar gate and is the entry point to zone 4. The gate is hence less explored, however, there can be chances of sightings if explored at the right time.
